When you purchase yarn and don’t have a pattern, what size crochet hook would you use?

Most yarns will give a recommended millimeter needle size.  Crochet hooks have a letter and millimeter size printed on them to choose the appropriate one.  Also, a general rule is for Dk weight yarn use a size G.  Worsted you can use an H and for a chunky weight yarn use a J.
